Low Tuck Kwong Regains Title as Indonesia's Richest Person in September 2023

Based on data from *Forbes Real Time Billionaires*, Low Tuck Kwong is once again the richest person in Indonesia as of September 11, 2023. Previously, the position of the Bayan Resources coal boss was overtaken by the Hartono brothers.

As of mid-September, Low Tuck Kwong's net worth is recorded at US$25.9 billion, equivalent to Rp397.51 trillion (assuming Rp15,348 per US$). This wealth also makes him the 58th richest person in the world.

The 75-year-old's wealth is due to the continuous growth of BYAN shares. Furthermore, coal prices have started to strengthen again in the third quarter of 2023.

Budi Hartono, who previously held the top spot, is now in second place with a total net worth only slightly less than Low Tuck Kwong's, at US$25.6 billion or approximately Rp392.90 trillion.

His brother, Michael Hartono, occupies third place with a net worth of US$24.5 billion, or Rp376.02 trillion.

The Hartono brothers are the owners of one of the largest kretek cigarette companies in Indonesia, PT Djarum, and are also controlling shareholders of BCA. This source of wealth consistently places them among the richest in Indonesia.
