Top 10 Richest People in Asia, Early 2024: An Indonesian Makes the List

Based on data from Forbes Real Time Billionaires, Mukesh Ambani is the richest person in Asia as of January 30, 2024.

The Indian conglomerate has a net worth of US$110.5 billion, equivalent to Rp1,744 trillion (assuming Rp15,783 per US$).

Ambani is the head of Reliance Industries Ltd. This company operates in various sectors such as petrochemicals, oil and gas, telecommunications, retail, and financial services.

Recently, Ambani transformed Reliance into a green energy company and invested US$80 billion over the next 10-15 years in renewable energy and the construction of a new complex next to its oil refinery.

Second place is still occupied by another Indian conglomerate, Gautam Adani, with a net worth of US$78.6 billion or Rp1,240 trillion.

Adani's wealth comes from his conglomerate, Adani Group. The company oversees six companies operating in ports, airports, power transmission, and green energy.

Zhong Shanshan is ranked third with a net worth of US$60.6 billion or Rp956 trillion. He is the founder of Nongfu Spring, a well-known bottled water company in China.

Meanwhile, from Indonesia, Prajogo Pangestu is ranked seventh. The owner of the energy company Barito Pacific has a net worth of US$37.9 billion, equivalent to Rp598 trillion.
