The World Directory of Modern Military Warships (WDMMW) released a list of countries with the strongest navies in the world in 2023.
From 36 surveyed countries, Indonesia ranked fourth with a True Value Rating (TvR) of 137.3 points.
TvR is an indicator of military strength compiled by WDMMW based on the number of combat equipment, logistical support, offensive capabilities, defensive capabilities, and others.
"Therefore, the strength (of a navy) of a country is not only measured by the number of warships and submarines, but also the overall quality of its assets," said WDMMW on its official website.
According to data compiled by WDMMW, Indonesia has 243 naval combat vessels as of July 2023, with the following details:
* 4 submarines
* 7 frigates
* 25 corvettes
* 9 mine warfare vessels
* 168 offshore patrol vessels
* 30 amphibious warfare vessels
The United States is the country with the strongest navy in the world, ranked number one, with a TvR score of 323.9 points.
"This is because the United States Navy has a diverse range of warships and submarines, and a balance of power throughout its fleet," said WDMMW.
Similar to Indonesia, the United States also has 243 active naval combat vessels as of November 2022, but the composition of its fleet is different, with the following details:
* 11 aircraft carriers
* 68 submarines
* 22 cruisers
* 70 destroyers
* 21 corvettes
* 8 mine warfare vessels
* 10 offshore patrol vessels
* 33 amphibious warfare vessels
WDMMW obtained this data from publicly accessible internet sources. They acknowledge that this data does not fully reflect the military strength of each country.
