List of Favorite Foreign Investment Sectors in Q2 2019

The Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) released data showing that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) realization in the second quarter of 2019 reached Rp 104.9 trillion, a 9.6% increase compared to the same period last year (Rp 95.7 trillion). The largest FDI sector in Q2 2019 was electricity, gas, and water, accounting for 18.6% of total investment, or US$ 1.3 billion.

Transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications ranked second with a 14.3% share and US$ 949.8 million in investment. The basic metal industry, metal goods, non-machinery, and equipment sector came in third, contributing 12.8% with US$ 857.9 million in investment.

Meanwhile, FDI realization in the mining sector reached 10% with US$ 672.4 million in investment. Approximately 8.6% of FDI went to the housing, industrial estates, and office sectors, totaling US$ 621.4 million in investment. For information, total investment realization in Q2 2019 grew by 13.7% (year-on-year) to Rp 200.5 trillion.
