Daily Rice Prices at Modern Markets, December 2023-2024

Based on the latest data from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center panel, the daily price of rice in modern markets in South Sumatra Province is recorded at Rp16,100 per kg. This price remains unchanged compared to the previous day, and similarly, there has been no change in price over the past week.

However, compared to the price 30 days ago, the daily price of rice in modern markets has increased from Rp15,800 per kg.

Meanwhile, the daily price of rice in modern markets in South Sumatra over the past three months has increased by 13.78% from the previous price of Rp14,150 per kg.

The highest recorded increase in the daily price of rice in modern markets in this province was in February 2018, with an increase of 11.02%, while the lowest decrease was recorded in October 2017, with a decrease of -29.97%.

According to PIHPS monitoring, the prices of nine basic commodities (sembako) today in South Sumatra show 11 commodities decreased and ten others increased. The basic commodities with price decreases are Fresh Layer Eggs, Chicken Eggs, Granulated Sugar, Branded Packaged Cooking Oil 1, Cooking Oil, Red Chili, Green Chili, Chili, Premium Quality Granulated Sugar, Red Chili, and Local Granulated Sugar.

The following are the prices of basic commodities monitored by PIHPS today compared to price changes over the past month in South Sumatra Province:

1. Fresh Chicken Meat per kg: Rp35,900 per kg (unchanged)
2. Garlic per kg: Rp50,200 per kg (up 8.66%)
3. Medium-sized Shallots per kg: Rp49,700 per kg (up 46.39%)
4. Fresh Layer Eggs per kg: Rp26,700 per kg (down 2.55%)
5. Grade 1 Beef per kg: Rp200,550 per kg (unchanged)
6. Beef per kg: Rp170,150 per kg (up 1.49%)
7. Chicken Eggs per kg: Rp26,700 per kg (down 2.55%)
8. Shallots per kg: Rp49,700 per kg (up 55.56%)
9. Large Red Chili per kg: Rp73,400 per kg (up 5.31%)
10. Chicken Meat per kg: Rp35,900 per kg (up 5.9%)
11. Rice per kg: Rp16,100 per kg (up 1.9%)
12. Granulated Sugar per kg: Rp17,500 per kg (down 1.13%)
13. Branded Packaged Cooking Oil 2 per kg: Rp20,500 per kg (up 1.49%)
14. Inferior Quality Rice I per kg: Rp16,250 per kg (up 7.62%)
15. Branded Packaged Cooking Oil 1 per kg: Rp21,550 per kg (down 10.58%)
