KIC Survey: Online Media Becomes Main Reference for Public Investment

Online media has become the primary reference for the Indonesian public in making investment decisions. This is evident from a survey conducted by Katadata Insight Center (KIC), Sisi+, and Zigi.id at the end of 2021 on the investment behavior of the Indonesian public.

According to the survey results, 76.5% of investors use information from online media as a reference for investment. The next most common source of information is social media, with 73.6% of respondents citing it as a reference.

A significant portion of respondents (32.4%) also prioritized information from investor communities, followed by friends or acquaintances (30%).

Family was the primary source of investment information for 24.3% of respondents. Another 18.4% relied on information from celebrities, influencers, or public figures.

Furthermore, 18.3% of respondents prioritized information from television, followed by print media (14.4%), financial advisors (12.5%), and radio (3.6%).

This survey involved 1,939 respondents across Indonesia, aged 15 and above and possessing investments. The online survey was conducted from September 6-12, 2021, using a non-probability sampling method with a margin of error of ±2.23%.
