The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's economy, measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices, reached Rp5,226 trillion in Q2 2023, growing 5.17% year-on-year (yoy).

BPS Deputy for Statistics Accounts and Analysis, Moh. Edy Mahmud, stated that Java Island dominated Indonesia's economic structure in Q2 2023.

He detailed that the 5.18% (yoy) growth in Java was contributed by DKI Jakarta (1.44%), East Java (1.33%), West Java (1.2%), Central Java (0.79%), Banten (0.34%), and Yogyakarta (0.08%).

According to Edy, the main source of economic growth in Java, especially in DKI Jakarta, came from tertiary sectors, "such as infocomm, trade, and business services," said Edy.

Sumatra contributed the second largest amount to Indonesia's economic growth in Q2 2023, at 21.94%, with economic growth reaching 4.9% (yoy).

Kalimantan contributed 8.32% to the GDP, with economic growth recorded at 5.56% (yoy) in Q2 2023.

Sulawesi contributed 7.13% to Indonesia's GDP, with economic growth of 6.64% (yoy) in Q2 2023.

Bali and Nusa Tenggara contributed 2.77% to the GDP, while economic growth in this region reached 3.01% in the April-June 2023 period.

Maluku and Papua had the smallest contribution to Indonesia's GDP at 2.57%, while economic growth in this region reached 6.35% (yoy) in Q2 2023.
