Government Debt Reaches Rp 6,713.24 Trillion in November 2021

Government debt at the end of November 2021 reached Rp 6,713.24 trillion. The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) recorded that this figure increased by 0.38% from the previous month, which was Rp 6,687.28 trillion.

Compared to November 2020, which stood at Rp 5,910.64 trillion, government debt increased by 13.6%. The government debt ratio in November 2021 was 39.84% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

In detail, government debt from state securities (SBN) reached Rp 5,889.73 trillion or 87.73%. This debt consisted of domestic SBN amounting to Rp 4,614.96 trillion and foreign currency (forex) SBN amounting to Rp 1,274.77 trillion.

Meanwhile, government debt in the form of loans was recorded at Rp 823.51 trillion or 12.27%. Government debt from domestic loans amounted to Rp 12.48 trillion.

Government debt from foreign loans was recorded at Rp 811.03 trillion. The details are: bilateral loans of Rp 302.59 trillion, multilateral loans of Rp 467.18 trillion, and commercial bank loans of Rp 41.26 trillion.

Kemenkeu noted that Indonesia's economic conditions in Q4 2021 continued to improve and showed recovery. The debt ratio until the end of 2021 is expected to remain manageable, along with a decrease in the deficit outlook due to improved state revenue and optimization of the budget surplus balance (SAL).
