West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province Had the Highest Traditional Fish Landing Production in Indonesia in 2020

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded an increase in the volume of marine fisheries production landed at Traditional Fish Landing Ports (PIT) in Indonesia in 2020. West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province had the highest volume of fish landed at PITs in Indonesia.

National marine fish production volume reached 542,000 tons, valued at Rp 9.69 trillion in 2020. This figure represents an increase of 10,460 tons, or Rp 180 billion, compared to 2019.

As the leading province for fish landed at PITs, NTB produced 290,080 tons of fish valued at Rp 5.1 trillion in 2020. Fish production in NTB has increased annually, from 141,000 tons in 2017 to its peak in 2020. The highest production in NTB in 2020 occurred in the fourth quarter, reaching 110,000 tons, valued at Rp 1.54 trillion.

The provinces with the next highest fish production were North Maluku (45,520 tons), followed by West Papua and Southeast Sulawesi with 43,250 tons and 38,390 tons respectively. Central Java had the lowest fish production, at 196 tons.

By type, the largest marine fisheries production landed at PITs was scad, with a volume of 38,000 tons valued at Rp 506 billion. This was followed by skipjack tuna, with a production volume of 27,230 tons valued at Rp 434.4 billion.

According to BPS, traditional fish landing ports are not included in any category of fishing ports and are characterized by their traditional nature.
