Bengkalis Regency Had the Largest Economy in Riau in 2020

Bengkalis Regency had the largest economy in Riau in 2020. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded a Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices (ADHB) of Rp 115.88 trillion. This figure represents 15.82% of the total GRDP at current prices of all regencies/cities in Riau, which amounted to Rp 732.69 trillion.

The mining and quarrying sector contributed the most to Bengkalis Regency's economy, reaching Rp 64.82 trillion. It should be noted that Bengkalis Regency is one of Riau's oil-producing regions.

Pekanbaru City ranked second with a GRDP at current prices of Rp 115.52 trillion in 2020. The construction sector was the largest contributor to the city's economy, amounting to Rp 34.86 trillion or 30.17%.

Following Pekanbaru was Siak Regency with a GRDP at current prices of Rp 77.84 trillion in 2020. The manufacturing industry had the largest contribution in this regency, reaching Rp 32.52 trillion or 41.77%.

Meanwhile, Kepulauan Meranti Regency had the smallest economy in Riau in 2020, with a GRDP at current prices of Rp 18.07 trillion. Above it were Kuantan Singingi Regency and Rokan Hulu Regency, with GRDP at current prices of Rp 33.75 trillion and Rp 36.08 trillion respectively.
