The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reported that Indonesia's State Budget (APBN) recorded a surplus of Rp103.1 trillion (approximately US$7 billion) by April 2022.
This APBN surplus was achieved due to higher revenue exceeding expenditure. The Kemenkeu report shows state revenue in April 2022 reached Rp853.6 trillion, while state expenditure amounted to Rp750.5 trillion.
"The APBN position up to April shows a very large surplus, both in terms of the primary balance and the total balance. The APBN surplus reached 0.58% of the Gross Domestic Product," stated Finance Minister Sri Mulyani in an APBN Kita press conference on Monday, May 23, 2022.
This APBN surplus achievement increased by 174.7% year-on-year (yoy) compared to the same period the previous year. In April 2021, Indonesia's APBN experienced a deficit of Rp138.2 trillion.
State revenue increased by 45.9% (yoy) from Rp584.9 trillion in April 2021.
The details are as follows: tax revenue amounted to Rp567.7 trillion; customs and excise duties revenue reached Rp108.4 trillion; and non-tax state revenue (PNBP) reached Rp177.4 trillion.
Meanwhile, the realization of state expenditure in April 2022 increased by 3.8% (yoy) compared to April 2021, which was Rp2,786.4 trillion.
The details are as follows: central government expenditure reached Rp508 trillion; and transfers to regions and village funds (TKDD) reached Rp242.4 trillion.
The primary balance also recorded a surplus of Rp220.9 trillion as of April 2022. This figure increased from Rp94.7 trillion in the previous month.
With this APBN surplus, budget financing can be further reduced. The realization of financing for the first four months of this year was recorded at Rp142.7 trillion, down 64.1% (yoy) compared to last year.
