KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri's Salary Nearly Reaches Rp100 Million per Month: Here's the Breakdown

The 2019-2023 Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Firli Bahuri, was named a suspect by Metro Jaya Police investigators in a case of alleged extortion against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Firli was allegedly involved in receiving US$1 billion in handling cases at the Ministry of Agriculture. This accusation, made in October 2023, was immediately denied by Firli.

However, in naming him a suspect, Metro Jaya Police confiscated documents related to foreign exchange transactions totaling Rp7.4 billion, as reported by *Tempo.co*.

These foreign exchange transaction documents, in Singapore Dollars (SGD) and United States Dollars (USD) from several money changer outlets, are recorded from February 2021 to September 2023. In addition, investigators also seized a summary of Firli Bahuri's LHKPN (Statement of Assets and Liabilities) for the period 2019-2022 and 21 mobile phones.

Nevertheless, the details of the money allegedly received by Firli are part of the ongoing investigation currently being reviewed by the Metro Jaya Police. Given the alleged receipt of such a large sum of money, how much is Firli's actual salary as KPK Chairman?

The amount of the KPK Chairman's salary is regulated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 82 of 2015 concerning the Second Amendment to PP Number 29 of 2006 concerning the Financial Entitlements, Position Protocol, and Security Protection of KPK Leaders.

"The leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission is given income that includes a basic salary, position allowance, and honorarium every month," states Article 3 of PP Number 82 of 2015.

Every month, Firli receives a basic salary of Rp5,040,000, a position allowance of Rp24,818,000, and an honorarium of Rp2,396,000.

In addition, the KPK Chairman also receives facility allowances with the following details:

* Housing allowance: Rp37,750,000
* Transportation allowance: Rp29,546,000
* Health & life insurance allowance: Rp16,325,000
* Retirement allowance: Rp8,063,500

Note that the health and life insurance allowance, and the retirement allowance are paid to insurance and pension providers designated by the KPK Secretary General.

Therefore, Firli's total estimated monthly salary as KPK Chairman is Rp99,550,000.
