The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that 70.3% of Indonesian state officials saw an increase in their assets during the past year of the pandemic. According to KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring, Pahala Nainggolan, 58% of ministers experienced an increase in wealth exceeding Rp 1 billion.
Based on Databoks' research using the KPK's State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN), several ministers, deputy sub-district heads, and school principals are included in the list of Indonesia's 10 wealthiest state officials.
Four ministers in the Joko Widodo & Ma'ruf Amin administration are on this list: Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, and Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto.
Here is the list of the 10 wealthiest state officials according to the KPK's LHKPN:
1. Presidential Advisory Council Member Tahir
Tahir is recorded as having assets totaling Rp 8.74 trillion. The founder of Mayapada Group owns 25 plots of land and buildings spread across Jakarta, Cianjur, Surabaya, Singapore, and the United States, valued at Rp 182.69 billion. He also owns 6 vehicles, including a Mercedes Benz and a Rolls Royce, with a total value of Rp 12.92 billion. Furthermore, Tahir has other movable assets worth Rp 4.96 trillion, securities worth Rp 8.29 trillion, cash and cash equivalents worth Rp 2.17 trillion, and other assets worth Rp 72 billion. He also has debts totaling Rp 6.96 trillion.
2. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno
Sandiaga Uno has total assets of Rp 3.81 trillion. He owns 16 plots of land and buildings located in Jakarta, Tangerang, Singapore, and the United States, with a total value of Rp 208.94 billion. He also owns vehicles such as a Nissan Grand Livina minibus and a Nissan X-Trail minibus, with a total value of Rp 295 million. The Gerindra Party politician also has other movable assets worth Rp 3.2 billion, securities worth Rp 3.11 billion, cash and cash equivalents worth Rp 629.21 billion, and other assets worth Rp 43.34 billion. Sandi also has debts totaling Rp 181.05 billion.
3. Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono
Trenggono has total assets of Rp 2.42 trillion. He owns 43 plots of land and buildings in Jakarta, Bekasi, Cianjur, Sragen, Buleleng, Boyolali, and Karanganyar, valued at Rp 57.53 billion. His transportation assets include three vehicles: a 2013 Land Rover RR Jeep, a 2015 Audi RS 5 sedan, a Mercedes Benz GLA 200, and a 2018 Honda Beat motorcycle, with a total value of Rp 2.98 billion. This man, nicknamed the 'Tower King', has other movable assets worth Rp 18.21 billion, securities worth Rp 2.14 billion, cash and cash equivalents worth Rp 137.83 billion, and other assets worth Rp 71.58 billion. However, he is recorded as having no debts.
4. Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir
Erick Thohir has total assets of Rp 2.31 trillion. He owns 34 plots of land and buildings in Jakarta, Depok, Bekasi, Badung, and Manggarai Barat, valued at Rp 359.40 billion. In addition, he owns 3 Mercedes Benz cars and a Honda motorcycle worth Rp 3.14 billion. He also has other movable assets totaling Rp 27.99 billion, securities worth Rp 1.72 trillion, cash and cash equivalents worth Rp 88.43 billion, and other assets worth Rp 285.33 billion.
5. Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto
Prabowo has assets totaling Rp 2.02 trillion. He owns 10 plots of land and buildings worth Rp 275.32 billion. He also owns 7 cars and one motorcycle worth Rp 1.25 billion. He is recorded as having other movable assets worth Rp 16.35 billion, securities worth Rp 1.70 trillion, cash and cash equivalents worth Rp 2.52 billion, and other assets worth Rp 40 billion. In his LHKPN, Prabowo lists debts of Rp 8 billion.
6. Head of Social Welfare, Rokan Hulu Regency Secretariat Umzakirman
Umzakirman is recorded as having total assets of Rp 1.80 trillion. He owns 5 plots of land and buildings valued at Rp 1.80 trillion. He also owns 3 motorcycles and 1 car worth Rp 324 million. In addition, this former Head of the Rokan Hulu Regency Food Crops and Horticulture Service also has securities worth Rp 63 million. However, he has no other movable assets, cash, other assets, or debts.
7. Principal of SMKN 5 Tangerang Nurhali
Nurhali has total assets of Rp 1.60 trillion. This includes 5 plots of land in Jakarta and Tangerang valued at Rp 1.60 trillion. He also owns two cars and one motorcycle worth Rp 558 million. 8. Director of Digital Business, PT Telkom Muhammad Fajrin
Fajrin has total assets of Rp 1.52 trillion. This includes 4 plots of land and buildings worth Rp 3.35 billion. He also owns one car and one motorcycle worth Rp 110 million. This former President of Bukalapak also has other movable assets worth Rp 243 million, securities worth Rp 1.52 trillion, cash and cash equivalents worth Rp 2 billion, and other assets worth Rp 258.8 million. However, Fajrin is recorded as having no debts.
9. Presidential Advisory Council Member Muhammad Mardiono
