How much did Regional Government Employees spend in 2020?

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), total regional government (provincial government) spending amounted to Rp 397.9 trillion in 2020. This figure grew by 12.14% from the previous year, which was only Rp 354.82 trillion.

The details are as follows: Rp 236.16 trillion was indirect spending and Rp 161.75 trillion was direct spending.

Total regional government employee spending reached Rp 101.6 trillion, or 25.53% of total spending in the previous year. The details are: Rp 90.77 trillion in indirect employee spending and Rp 10.83 trillion in direct employee spending.

Indirect employee spending refers to compensation in the form of salaries and allowances, as well as other income given to civil servants as stipulated by law.

Meanwhile, direct employee spending is expenditure for honorariums/wages, overtime, and other expenses to increase the motivation and quality of employees in carrying out regional government programs and activities.

Indirect regional government spending consists of employee spending, interest spending, subsidy spending, grant spending, social assistance spending, revenue-sharing spending, financial assistance spending, and unforeseen expenditures, which are budgeted without direct relation to the implementation of programs and activities.

Direct regional government spending consists of employee spending, goods and services spending, and capital spending, which are budgeted with a direct relation to programs and activities.
