Here are the Top 10 Sectors with the Highest Foreign Investment in 2017

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) still dominates investment realization in Indonesia, reaching Rp 430.5 trillion out of a total realization of Rp 678.8 trillion. This means that approximately 62.42% of investment realization still originates from overseas.

Over the past eight years, both foreign and domestic investment has shown a growth trend. Indonesia's investment-grade rating, controlled inflation rate, and economic growth trend of around 5% are Indonesia's strengths in the eyes of investors. Based on data from the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), the highest foreign investment was channeled into the mining sector, reaching US$ 4.37 billion or approximately Rp 58.5 trillion.

Mining investment accounts for 13.6% of total foreign investment realization. Since 2012, mining has been considered the star of investment in Indonesia. The electricity, gas, and water supply sector is second, with investment valued at US$ 4.24 billion or approximately Rp 56.8 trillion. The government's program to build 35,000 MW of electricity within five years of President Joko Widodo's administration is considered a driver of high investment realization in the electricity sector.
