Current Food Prices in West Sumatra: Prices of Sugar, Cooking Oil, and Onions Drop

The prices of several food commodities in West Sumatra today are observed to have decreased compared to yesterday.

Citing data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) food price panel on Tuesday (20/8/2024) at 12:48 WIB, out of 21 commodities, 9 commodities increased and 10 commodities decreased in price.

Commodities that increased in price include broiler chicken, iodized fine salt, mackerel, premium rice, and shallots.

Meanwhile, the prices of several commodities such as red onions, red chilies, dry soybean (import), chicken eggs, and simple packaged cooking oil decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

The price of corn at the farmer level surged the highest by Rp480 (9.72%) to Rp5,420 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of red chili peppers fell the most sharply by Rp10,780 (19.14%) to Rp45,550 per kg.
