Jakarta Pusat's 2023 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached Rp860.05 trillion. This represents a 5.1% increase compared to the previous year's Rp795.39 trillion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the region's economic growth is significantly higher. At the end of 2020, post-COVID, growth recorded a decrease of 0.66%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 1.11 million, the GRDP per capita in this region is recorded at Rp819.63 million/capita/year. Nationally, this ranks second.
Of the 17 sectors driving the region's economic growth, the financial and insurance sector is the leading contributor.
The financial and insurance sector contributed the largest share to the GRDP in 2023, reaching Rp207.01 billion and growing by 5.46%.
The second largest contributor was the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, which grew by 4.53% to Rp146.3 billion. The corporate services sector grew by 6.53% to Rp85.54 billion.
Rounding out the top five GRDP contributors in Jakarta Pusat is the construction sector, with a value of Rp69.91 billion. According to BPS, this sector grew by 2.59% over the past year from its previous record of Rp65.91 billion.

In terms of distribution, the financial and insurance sector contributed the largest share to GRDP growth in Jakarta Pusat, accounting for 23.7%. Other top five sectors include wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; information and communication; corporate services; and construction.
Sectors with the smallest distribution include Manufacturing; Electricity and Gas Supply; Water Supply; Waste Management, Waste and Recycling; Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; and Mining and Quarrying.
