This year, the Jakarta Provincial Government disbursed Rp 211 billion to four supporting regions, namely Bekasi City, Bogor Regency, Tangerang City, and Cianjur Regency. This amount is lower than the 2015 disbursement of Rp 358 billion.
Bekasi City received the largest grant, amounting to Rp 183.98 billion. These funds were used for, among other things, direct cash assistance for residents of Bantargebang, the construction of artesian wells, and road repairs.
Meanwhile, Depok City did not receive any allocation this year due to a late submission of its grant proposal. Therefore, Depok City will only receive a grant next year. In 2017, the Jakarta Provincial Government had agreed to provide Rp 30 billion to Depok City.
Grant assistance is a constitutional mandate provided in accordance with agreements stemming from cooperation between the Jakarta Provincial Government and the recipients. Recipient regions are obligated to assist in resolving Jakarta's problems such as traffic congestion, transportation, flooding, and waste management.
