Indonesia's Inflation Rises to 0.12% in October 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia experienced 0.12% inflation month-on-month (mom) in October 2021, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.66. This is an increase from the previous month's 0.04% inflation.

The inflation was caused by price increases across all expenditure groups. The expenditure group with the highest inflation was transportation at 0.33%.

The next highest inflation was observed in the clothing and footwear group at 0.15%, followed by household goods and routine maintenance at 0.13%, and food and beverage/restaurant services at 0.12%.

The expenditure groups with the lowest inflation were education and other personal care services, each at 0.02%.

Of the 90 cities in Indonesia, 68 experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sampit at 2.06% with a CPI of 109.3. The lowest inflation was recorded in Banyuwangi and Sumenep, each at 0.02%. The CPI in Banyuwangi was 104.64 and in Sumenep 106.21.

BPS also reported that the highest deflation occurred in Kendari at 0.7% with a CPI of 107.98. The lowest deflation was recorded in Bengkulu at 0.02% with a CPI of 105.89.
