Current Food Prices in West Sumatra: Onions Up, Salt Down

The prices of several food commodities in West Sumatra today are observed to be higher than yesterday.

Based on the National Food Agency (Bapanas) food price panel data on Sunday (25/8/2024) at 08.40 WIB, out of 18 commodities, 10 commodities increased and 8 commodities decreased in price.

Commodities that increased in price include curly red chilies, broiler chicken meat, skipjack tuna, SPHP rice, and pure beef.

Meanwhile, the prices of several commodities such as medium rice, dry soybean (import), fine iodized salt, packaged wheat flour (non-bulk), and simple packaged cooking oil decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

Skipjack tuna prices surged the highest by Rp12,130 (32.46%) to Rp49,500 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of fine iodized salt decreased the most by Rp2,480 (15.79%) to Rp13,230 per kg.

The following is a complete list of the prices of 18 food commodities in West Sumatra according to Bapanas on August 25, 2024, at 08.40 WIB.

2. Mackerel: Rp51,960 per kg (up 6.94%)
3. Skipjack Tuna: Rp49,500 per kg (up 32.46%)
4. Curly Red Chilies: Rp46,900 per kg (up 12.31%)
5. Broiler Chicken Meat: Rp39,090 per kg (up 13.57%)
6. Garlic Bulb: Rp38,990 per kg (up 1.19%)
7. Chicken Eggs: Rp27,900 per kg (down 2.89%)
8. Red Onion: Rp22,360 per kg (up 15.26%)
9. Consumption Sugar: Rp18,000 per kg (down 0.06%)
10. Premium Rice: Rp17,490 per kg (up 0.29%)
11. Simple Packaged Cooking Oil: Rp16,430 per liter (down 7.28%)
12. Bulk Cooking Oil: Rp14,200 per liter (down 4.89%)
13. Medium Rice: Rp14,000 per kg (down 7.41%)
14. SPHP Rice: Rp13,250 per kg (up 2.4%)
15. Fine Iodized Salt: Rp13,230 per kg (down 15.79%)
