The Indonesian government has allocated Rp1,077.2 trillion (approximately US$71.8 billion based on current exchange rates) for ministries/institutions (K/L) in the 2024 State Budget Draft (RAPBN 2024).
This allocation represents 32.6% of the total state expenditure in the RAPBN 2024, which amounts to Rp3,304.1 trillion (approximately US$220.3 billion).
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) received the largest budget allocation in the RAPBN 2024, reaching Rp146.98 trillion (approximately US$9.8 billion).
The PUPR budget allocation increased compared to the 2023 State Budget (APBN 2023), which was Rp127.17 trillion (approximately US$8.5 billion), in line with the assignment to accelerate the construction of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
According to the 2024 Financial Note, the substantial PUPR budget will be used for connectivity infrastructure and basic services (Rp61.9 trillion); water resource resilience programs (Rp41.52 trillion); housing and settlements (Rp35.37 trillion); management support (Rp8.04 trillion); and vocational education and training (Rp135.2 billion).
The Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) is ranked second with a budget allocation of Rp135.42 trillion (approximately US$9.0 billion) in the RAPBN 2024.
The majority of the Kemenhan budget will be used for management support programs (Rp78.12 trillion); and modernization of main weapon systems (alutsista), non-alutsista, and defense infrastructure (Rp39.47 trillion).
Following this is the Indonesian National Police (Polri) with a budget allocation of Rp114.76 trillion (approximately US$7.7 billion). This is followed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) with a budget of Rp97.7 trillion (approximately US$6.5 billion).
Meanwhile, the K/L with the lowest budget allocation in the RAPBN 2024 are the National Resilience Council (Wantannas) at Rp50.8 billion, the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) at Rp132.7 billion, and the Nuclear Energy Supervisory Agency (Bapeten) at Rp126.8 billion.
