Passenger Transportation Costs Increased by 13.25% (YoY) in June 2022

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the consumer price index (CPI) for the national passenger transportation sub-sector reached 118.01 points. This CPI value increased by 0.98% in June 2022 compared to the previous month (month-to-month/m-to-m).

This means that the average cost of passenger transportation services increased by 0.98% last month. The CPI for passenger transportation services has recorded consecutive increases over the past four months and reached its highest level since January 2020, as shown in the graph.

Compared to June 2021, the cost of passenger transportation services nationwide increased by 13.25% (year-on-year/yoy). Similarly, compared to December 2021, the cost of passenger transportation services has increased by 7.24% (year-to-date/ytd).

The passenger transportation sub-sector was the transportation inflation group that recorded the highest increase in June 2022. The details are as follows:

1. Passenger Transportation Services: 13.25% (yoy)
2. Operation of Private Transportation Equipment: 3.57% (yoy)
3. Vehicle Purchases: 2.89% (yoy)
4. Goods Delivery Services: 1.15% (yoy)
