Indonesia is rich in natural resources. Every year, the Central Government distributes the proceeds from these natural resources to regional governments. East Kalimantan (Kaltim) received the largest amount of natural resource revenue sharing (DBH) in 2020.
Based on data from the Ministry of Finance, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government (Pemprov Kaltim) and the regencies/cities (Pemkab/Pemkot) in East Kalimantan received Rp 11.76 trillion in DBH from natural resources. This figure also accounts for 25.29% of the total DBH from natural resources transferred by the central government to regional governments, which amounted to Rp 46.5 trillion.
The next largest recipient of DBH from natural resources was the Provincial Government and regencies/cities in South Sumatra, with a value of Rp 5.44 trillion (11.69%). Following this, the Provincial Government and regencies/cities in South Kalimantan received Rp 4.26 trillion in DBH from natural resources. Next, the Provincial Government and regencies/cities in Riau received Rp 4.23 trillion in DBH from natural resources.
These four provinces received over Rp 4 trillion in DBH from natural resources, significantly more than other provinces. This is visually represented on the map by darker shading; darker regions indicate higher DBH from natural resources, while lighter regions indicate lower amounts.
DBH from natural resources represents the distribution of funds from the central government to regional governments, both provincial and regency/city governments, as a share of natural resource revenue, which forms part of regional government income. The value of DBH from natural resources transferred by the central government decreased by 24.62% to Rp 46.5 trillion in 2020, compared to Rp 61.68 trillion in 2019.
