Government Receivables from BLBI Receipts Reached Rp 102.38 Trillion in 2020

Based on the Central Government Financial Report (LKPP), the government still had outstanding receivables related to the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) amounting to Rp 102.38 trillion in 2020. Of this amount, Rp 83.44 trillion was receivables from assets of the former National Bank Restructuring Agency (BPPN).

Rp 8.9 trillion represented assets from the former management of PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset. Meanwhile, Rp 10.03 trillion represented receivables from banks in liquidation (BDL).

Currently, the government is actively pursuing obligors and debtors who received BLBI funds but have not fulfilled their obligations. Several BLBI obligors have been summoned by the Task Force for Handling State Receivables from BLBI Funds.

The government, through BI, previously provided liquidity assistance funds to banks totaling Rp 144 trillion in 1997-1998. However, these funds were misused, flowing to the business groups of bank owners and other parties, causing losses to the state.

This case, which has been ongoing for over 20 years, remains unresolved. The government is still bearing the interest burden to BI from bonds issued for the BLBI liquidity assistance funds, reaching Rp 105.45 trillion.

In 2020, the government received Rp 299.52 billion from the sale of assets from the restructuring program. This includes Rp 259.45 billion from the sale of former BPPN assets and Rp 40.08 billion from the sale/settlement of former BDL assets.
