Current Food Prices in East Java: Salt Up, Chilies Down

The prices of several food commodities in East Java today are observed to be higher compared to yesterday.

Based on the national food agency (Bapanas) food price panel data on Tuesday (6/8/2024) at 09.17 WIB, out of 21 commodities, 14 commodities increased in price and 7 commodities decreased.

Commodities that increased in price include premium rice, packaged wheat flour (non-bulk), garlic cloves, broiler chicken, and bulk wheat flour.

Meanwhile, the prices of several commodities such as simple packaged cooking oil, farmer-level corn, red chilies, medium rice, and skipjack tuna decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

Iodized fine salt saw the highest price increase, jumping Rp570 (6.15%) to Rp9,840 per kg. Farmer-level corn experienced the steepest price drop, falling Rp350 (6.8%) to Rp4,800 per kg.

The following is a complete list of the prices of 21 food commodities in East Java according to Bapanas on August 6, 2024, at 09.17 WIB.
