Survey Indicator: Majority of the Public Views Corruption Eradication in Indonesia as Poor

The latest survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia shows that more Indonesians view the condition of corruption eradication in the country as poor.

The "poor" option was chosen by 37.5% of respondents, comprising 32.7% who answered "poor" and 4.8% who stated "very poor." This figure is up from the previous survey conducted from October 27 to November 1, 2023, which recorded 35.2%.

"So, the perception tends to be negative towards the condition of corruption eradication," said Indikator's Senior Researcher Rizka Halida in a virtual press conference on Saturday (December 9, 2023).

Meanwhile, 28.7% of respondents still assessed Indonesia's corruption eradication efforts as good. The breakdown is 1.4% answering "very good" and 27.3% rating it as "good." This positive perception is down from the previous 32.6% recorded from October 27 to November 1, 2023.

Meanwhile, 28.7% of respondents answered "fair," and 5.2% stated "don't know/didn't answer."

The survey involved 1,200 respondents across Indonesia, proportionally distributed. An oversample was then conducted in 15 provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatra, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Banten, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and Papua. This resulted in a total sample size of 5,380 respondents.

Respondents were all Indonesian citizens with voting rights, meaning they were over 17 years old or married at the time of the survey. The sample was drawn using a multistage random sampling method.

Data collection was conducted from November 23 to December 1, 2023, using face-to-face interviews. The margin of error is approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
