PwC: Indonesia's Economy to be the World's 5th Largest by 2030

The auditing and economic consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) predicts that Indonesia's economy could reach 5th place globally, surpassing both the Russian and German economies. In their February 2017 report, titled *The Long View: How will the global economic order change by 2050*, Indonesia's economy (Gross Domestic Product/GDP) is projected to reach US$5.42 trillion, or approximately Rp 72 quadrillion, by 2030.

PwC's projection is based on purchasing power parity (PPP) as a component of GDP. This calculation was performed for 32 countries, assuming consistent economic stability for both the G7 advanced economies (United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Canada, and Italy) and the E7 developing economies (China, India, Brazil, Russia, Mexico, and Turkey).

Indonesia's economy grew by 5.02 percent in 2016. Indonesia's GDP in 2016, at current prices, reached Rp 12,406.8 trillion, or approximately US$932 billion. Indonesia's GDP per capita was Rp 47.96 million, or US$3,605.06.
