Ministry of Finance: Local Government Funds Deposited in Banks Decreased by 5.33% as of April 2022

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reported that regional government (Pemda) deposits in banks amounted to Rp191.57 trillion as of April 2022. This figure is down 5.33% from the previous month's Rp202.35 trillion.

"Regional government funds in banks are still quite high at Rp191.5 trillion in April 2022. But this is lower than the previous month," said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati in the APBN Kita Press Conference on Monday (May 23, 2022).

Compared to April 2021, which stood at Rp194.54 trillion, regional government deposits in banks decreased by 1.53%.

Kemenkeu noted that this decrease in regional government funds in banks is in line with the disbursement of Additional Employee Income (TPP) and Eid al-Fitr allowances (THR) for regional apparatuses in most regional governments.

"However, we hope that these regional government funds can be used to accelerate economic recovery in the regions," said Sri Mulyani.

Meanwhile, over the past three months, regional government funds in banks have been steadily increasing. Regional government funds in banks were recorded at Rp157 trillion in January 2022.

Then, the value rose to Rp183 trillion in February 2022 and increased again to Rp202.35 trillion in March 2022. However, the value decreased in April 2022.

The region with the highest bank balance was East Java, reaching Rp24.17 trillion. Meanwhile, the region with the lowest bank balance was the Riau Islands, amounting to Rp1.07 trillion.
