The Indonesian contingent added 17 medals at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games in China on Wednesday (25/10/2023), comprising 4 gold, 5 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
However, as of Thursday (26/10/2023) at 07.30 WIB, Indonesia's ranking in the provisional medal tally dropped back to 9th after briefly holding the 8th position.
According to the official Asian Para Games website, Indonesia has now collected 33 medals: 7 gold, 10 silver, and 16 bronze.
Four gold medals were contributed by para-athletics through Saptoyogo Purnomo in the men's 400-meter T37 race. This is Saptoyogo's second gold medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
Then there was gold from the visually impaired judo category, won by Roma Siska Tampubolon in the over 70 kg J1 classification, and from lawn bowls, won by Kacung in the men's singles B2 event.
Another gold medal came from Felix Ardi Yudha in Boccia, in the Men's Individual BC2 event.
In addition, the Indonesian contingent also added 5 silver and 8 bronze medals from para table tennis, lawn bowls, para cycling, para athletics, and para archery.
With this achievement, Indonesia is closing the gap with Malaysia, which occupies 8th place in the provisional medal tally of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
Malaysia has collected 29 medals, consisting of 7 gold, 11 silver, and 11 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, the top position in the standings is still held by the host country, China, which won 300 medals: 118 gold, 96 silver, and 86 bronze.
Below them is Iran with 73 medals, including 24 gold, 30 silver, and 19 bronze. Japan is in third place with 69 medals: 20 gold, 21 silver, and 28 bronze.
