Food Prices in South Sumatra Today: Red Chili Prices Rise, Onions Fall

Prices of several food commodities in South Sumatra today are observed to be higher than yesterday.

According to data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) food price panel on Friday (August 15, 2025) at 12:37 PM WIB, out of 23 commodities, 13 saw price increases and 9 saw decreases.

Commodities with price increases include large red chili, corn at the farmer level, broiler chicken eggs, bulk wheat flour, and mackerel.

Meanwhile, prices of several commodities such as milkfish, bulk cooking oil, broiler chicken meat, curly red chili, and red onion have decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

Corn at the farmer level saw the highest increase of Rp450 (6.92%) to Rp6,950 per kg. Red onion prices, however, experienced the sharpest decline of Rp1,394 (2.83%) to Rp47,844 per kg.

8. Broiler Chicken Meat: Rp32.508 per kg (down 0.17%)
9. Broiler Chicken Eggs: Rp27.586 per kg (up 0.47%)
10. Milkfish: Rp27.458 per kg (down 0.44%)
11. Skipjack Tuna: Rp27.444 per kg (up 0.59%)
12. Packaged Cooking Oil: Rp19.870 per liter (up 0.01%)
