Two Weeks Before Year-End, PEN Budget Realization Reaches Only 71.6%

A report from the Indonesian Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) shows that the realization of the budget for handling Covid-19 and the national economic recovery (PEN) reached Rp 533.60 trillion as of December 17, 2021. This figure represents only 71.6% of the total budget of Rp 744.77 trillion.

This means that Rp 211.17 trillion of the budget remained unabsorbed two weeks before the end of the year.

Of the PEN budget ceiling, the largest realization was for social protection, reaching Rp 161.17 trillion. This is equivalent to 86.4% of the budget ceiling of Rp 186.64 trillion.

The next largest budget realization came from the health program, amounting to Rp 147.44 trillion. This figure is equivalent to 68.6% of the budget ceiling of Rp 214.96 trillion.

Furthermore, the budget realization for priority programs was recorded at Rp 87.47 trillion. This is equivalent to 74.2% of the budget ceiling of Rp 117.94 trillion.

Then, the budget realization for UMKM and corporate support programs reached Rp 74.36 trillion, or 45.8% of the budget ceiling of Rp 162.40 trillion. Meanwhile, the budget realization for business incentives amounted to Rp 63.16 trillion, or 100.5% of the budget ceiling of Rp 62.83 trillion.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani stated that her ministry had coordinated with all ministries and institutions to ensure the PEN budget was realized by two weeks before the end of the year. She added that if the budget could not be realized, the PEN funds would be returned to the state budget (APBN).
