The G20 Summit will be held in Bali on November 15-16, 2022. The government has confirmed that 17 countries will attend, while 3 others will not.
Several heads of state have already arrived in Bali, including US President Joe Biden, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
"There are three (heads of state) who cannot attend in person. President Putin is one of them, not coming due to domestic issues," said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, as quoted by *Katadata.co.id*, Saturday (12/11).
Besides Russian President Vladimir Putin, Luhut continued, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro will also be absent. According to Luhut, the Brazilian President is absent due to the ongoing presidential election, while the Mexican President rarely leaves his country.
"Although not attending in person, Putin will likely attend virtually," said Luhut.
He explained that the G20 meeting will involve more than 3,443 delegates. In total, 12,725 people will be involved in this major event, including delegate support teams, international organizations, NGO activities, international agency envoys, journalists, and researchers.
Luhut said that President Joko Widodo will likely hold bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also reported to be attending in Bali.
