The Indonesian government has allocated Rp71.8 trillion (approximately USD 4.7 billion based on March 26, 2024 exchange rate) for the construction of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) from 2022 to 2024.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that this budget comes from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).
In an online press conference on the Ministry of Finance's YouTube account on Monday, March 25, 2024, Sri Mulyani reported that the 2024 APBN allocation for IKN reached Rp39.3 trillion (approximately USD 2.6 billion).
This amount is larger than the budget realization in both 2023 and 2022, as shown in the graph.
As of February 2024, the IKN budget realization since the beginning of the year has reached Rp2.3 trillion (approximately USD 152 million), equivalent to 5.8% of the total 2024 APBN allocation.
Sri Mulyani stated that these funds were used for infrastructure and non-infrastructure clusters.
In the infrastructure cluster, the IKN budget realization amounted to Rp400 billion (approximately USD 26 million) from a total ceiling of Rp36.4 trillion (approximately USD 2.4 billion).
These funds were used for the construction of buildings in the state palace area, coordinating ministries and other ministries, and the IKN Authority building.
Infrastructure funds were also used for the construction of state civil apparatus (ASN) and defense and security apartment towers, ministerial houses, the IKN toll road, IKN roads and bridges, a VVIP airport, the arrangement and improvement of the Sepaku Semoi Dam area, the Embung Core Central Government Area (KIPP), IKN flood control, and the rehabilitation of forests and land around IKN.
Meanwhile, in the non-infrastructure cluster, the realization amounted to Rp1.9 trillion (approximately USD 125 million) from a total ceiling of Rp2.9 trillion (approximately USD 191 million).
This budget was used for planning, coordination, and preparation for the relocation, promotion/publication/socialization of IKN, policy reports and recommendations to ministries/institutions (K/L), mapping activities, monitoring and evaluation, Polri security support, and the operation of the IKN Authority.
