Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic period in 2020, economic growth in this region is significantly higher. Previously, at the end of 2020, post-COVID growth was recorded at a decrease of 0.65%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 269,800, the GRDP per capita in this region was recorded at Rp17,770,000/capita/year. Nationally, this GRDP per capita ranks 476th.
Of the 17 sectors driving economic activity in this regency, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector is the leading sector.
The agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector in North Central Timor Regency is the mainstay sector and contributed the largest share to the GRDP in 2023, reaching Rp1.97 trillion. This nominal value grew by 2.31% compared to the previous year's Rp1.84 trillion.
Next, the public administration, defense, and compulsory social security sector grew by 0.17% to Rp740.87 billion, followed by the construction sector in third place with a GRDP of Rp496.62 billion (7.86%).
Finally, the top five GRDP sectors in North Central Timor Regency include wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, with a value of Rp299.05 billion. According to BPS, this sector grew by 5.71% over the past year from the previous achievement of Rp264.5 billion.
