East Java's Economy Grew by 3.23% in the Third Quarter of 2021

A report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that the East Java economy grew by 3.23% year-on-year (yoy) in the third quarter of 2021. This figure is lower than the previous quarter's achievement of 7.07%.

Growth occurred in almost all business sectors, except mining and quarrying, which experienced a contraction of 0.91%.

Meanwhile, the business sectors that experienced significant growth were health and social activities (8.33%), followed by wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (8.24%), and information and communication (7.42%).

From the expenditure side, the highest growth occurred in the foreign import component, which grew by 27.07%, followed by non-government expenditure, which grew by 2.27%.

Household consumption (PKRT) also grew by 1.56%, gross fixed capital formation (PMTB) by 1.14%, and government consumption by 0.80%. Meanwhile, foreign exports recorded a decrease of 8.27%.

Furthermore, the BPS report states that East Java is the second largest contributor to the Javanese economy, with a contribution of 25.33%. Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta is the largest contributor to the island's economy, with a contribution of 29.38%.
