Transportation and warehousing have become the business sectors with the largest increase in contribution to Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) in the last 15 years.
According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the contribution of the transportation and warehousing sector to GDP increased by 2.59 percentage points, from 3.57% in 2010 to 6.16% in 2025.
This development is in line with increasing public mobility, the growth of digital-based trade, and the expansion of logistics infrastructure in various regions.
There are also a number of other business sectors whose contribution to GDP has decreased in the last 15 years.
The most significant decline occurred in the processing industry sector, whose contribution shrank by 2.97 percentage points, from 22.04% in 2010 to 19.07% in 2025.

Sectors with increased contributions:
- Transportation and Warehousing: increased by 2.59 percentage points to 6.16% (in 2025)
- Construction: increased by 0.70 percentage points to 9.83%
- Information and Communication: increased by 0.67 percentage points to 4.40%
- Other Services: increased by 0.67 percentage points to 2.14%
- Financial and Insurance Services: increased by 0.62 percentage points to 4.11%
- Corporate Services: increased by 0.54 percentage points to 1.98%
- Health and Social Services: increased by 0.29 percentage points to 1.26%
Sectors with decreased contributions:
- Water Supply and Waste Management: decreased by 0.03 percentage points to 0.06% (in 2025)
- Electricity and Gas Supply: decreased by 0.06 percentage points to 1.00%
- Education Services: decreased by 0.14 percentage points to 2.80%
- Accommodation and Food Services: decreased by 0.24 percentage points to 2.68%
- Wholesale and Retail Trade, Vehicle Repair: decreased by 0.29 percentage points to 13.17%
- Real Estate: decreased by 0.65 percentage points to 2.24%
- Government Administration and Defense: decreased by 0.78 percentage points to 3.00%
- Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries: decreased by 0.83 percentage points to 13.10%
- Mining and Quarrying: decreased by 1.71 percentage points to 8.75%
- Processing Industry: decreased by 2.97 percentage points to 19.07%
Throughout 2025, Indonesia's GDP value based on current prices (ADHB) reached Rp23.82 quadrillion.
Meanwhile, the GDP value based on constant prices (ADHK) in 2025 was Rp13.58 quadrillion, growing by 5.11% compared to the previous year.
