According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) report, Indonesia experienced monthly inflation of 0.21% in September 2025 (month-to-month/mtm).

This reversed the situation from the previous month, which recorded deflation of 0.08% (mtm) in August 2025.

When viewed by commodity, red chili and broiler chicken meat were the largest contributors to deflation, each contributing 0.13% last month.

Next were gold jewelry, contributing 0.08% (mtm), and machine-rolled clove cigarettes (SKM) and academy or university tuition fees, each contributing 0.01% (mtm).

"The gold jewelry commodity has experienced inflation for 25 consecutive months since September 2023," said M. Habibullah, Deputy for Production Statistics at BPS, in an online press conference on Wednesday (October 1, 2025).

BPS also noted that gold jewelry inflation in September 2025 was the highest in the last five months.

Last month's inflation occurred in 24 provinces, while 14 other provinces experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Riau at a rate of 1.11% (mtm). Meanwhile, the deepest monthly deflation occurred in South Papua at 1.08% (mtm).
