428 Corruption Cases in Indonesia Related to Procurement of Goods and Services in the Last Two Decades

According to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) report, they have handled 1,709 corruption cases in Indonesia from 2004 to August 11, 2025.

Of these, 25% or 428 cases, fall into the category of procurement of goods and services corruption.

In the last two decades, the KPK's handling of procurement corruption cases was highest in 2023 and 2024, as shown in the graph.

Meanwhile, according to Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), this year there is a new President Prabowo program vulnerable to procurement corruption: the distribution program of 330,000 smart TVs for schools in Indonesia.

This is because, according to ICW's Head of Legal and Investigation Division, Wana Alamsyah, the procurement of smart TVs was carried out through a direct appointment scheme, not through a tender or auction process.

"One of the critical notes of ICW regarding government procurement related to this TV procurement is the direct appointment mechanism," said Wana, as broadcast by KBR.id, Thursday (September 18, 2025).

"In ICW's records, for example, over the past 5 years, corruption cases related to procurement of more than 1,000 laptops have resulted in trillions of rupiah in state losses. Most cases in procurement are related to tenders. If tenders are already subject to corruption, what about direct appointments?," he said.
