Indonesia has 8,000 Nutritional Service Units in September 2025

According to data from the National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional or BGN), as of September 14, 2025, there were 8,018 operational nutrition service units (SPPG) in Indonesia.

SPPGs are responsible for supporting the implementation of the free nutritious food program (MBG), from preparing ingredients and managing kitchens to distributing food to beneficiaries.

"This covers 38 provinces, 509 regencies/cities, and 7,022 districts. There are five regencies without the MBG program," said BGN Head Dadan Hindayana in a meeting with Commission IX of the DPR (House of Representatives) on Monday, September 15, 2025.

The highest concentration of SPPGs is in the provinces of Java Island: West Java, Central Java, and East Java.

The following is a list of the top 10 provinces with the most SPPGs as of September 14, 2025:

1. West Java: 1,942 units

2. Central Java: 1,148 units

3. East Java: 871 units

4. Lampung: 414 units

5. South Sulawesi: 329 units

6. South Sumatra: 324 units

7. Banten: 271 units

8. West Nusa Tenggara (NTB): 271 units

9. Aceh: 267 units

10. North Sumatra: 244 units

BGN also noted that 12,897 SPPG units are still under application. The target for SPPG units by the end of this year is 30,000.

"For each established SPPG, between Rp900 million and Rp1 billion will be absorbed per month. Therefore, the addition of SPPGs is important," said Dadan.
