Number of UMKM Entrepreneurs in Kulon Progo, 2021-2025

The Yogyakarta Special Region Government recorded 36,954 micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) entrepreneurs in Kulon Progo Regency in 2021.

In 2022, the number of MSME entrepreneurs in Kulon Progo Regency decreased by 813 to 36,141.

In 2023, the Yogyakarta Special Region Government recorded 37,398 MSME entrepreneurs in Kulon Progo Regency, an increase of 1,257 compared to the previous year.

In 2024, the number of MSME entrepreneurs in the regency grew by 795 compared to 2023, reaching 38,193.

As of June 30, 2025, the number of MSME entrepreneurs in Kulon Progo Regency reached 38,276. Compared to the 2021 data, the number of MSME entrepreneurs in the regency increased by 1,322.

On Thursday (June 26, 2025), the Kulon Progo Regency Industry, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Office (DisperinKopUKM) and PT Indomarco Prismatama introduced UMKM products throughout all Tomira Indomaret outlets in Kulon Progo.

Head of DisperinKopUKM, Iffah Mufidati, stated that partnerships, cooperatives, and the presence of local products are mandated by Kulon Progo Regency Regional Regulation Number 16 of 2021 concerning the Protection, Empowerment of Traditional Markets, and Arrangement of Shopping Centers and Supermarkets.

Previously, the presence of UMKM products in franchise stores in Kulon Progo was not widespread. "Sometimes stocks were empty, or perhaps the shelves were hidden, not in premium locations or at the front," she said, as quoted from the Kulon Progo Regency Government website.
