Number of Recipients of Free Nutritious Meals until April 2025, Majority in Elementary Schools

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reports that the budget realization for the free nutritious food program (MBG) has reached Rp2.3 trillion as of April 29, 2025.

This budget has been distributed to approximately 3.26 million recipients, including toddlers, schoolchildren, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers.

"This is an acceleration, because until the end of February 2025, it only reached Rp300 billion," said Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara in a press conference on Wednesday (April 30, 2025).

MBG program spending was mostly channeled to elementary school children (SD/MI) with approximately 1.42 million recipients.

Meanwhile, the least amount was channeled to seminaries, educational institutions for Catholic priests/pastors, with only 352 recipients.

Here is a complete list of MBG beneficiaries as of April 29, 2025:

* SD/MI (Elementary School): 1,415,746 people
* SMP/MTS (Junior High School): 935,014 people
* SMA/MA/SMK (Senior High School/Vocational High School): 691,857 people
* Pre-SD (Pre-Elementary School): 178,679 people
* Islamic Boarding Schools (Pondok Pesantren): 16,393 people
* Toddlers (Balita): 12,004 people
* Special Needs Schools (SLB): 6,276 people
* Pregnant Women (Ibu Hamil): 3,771 people
* Breastfeeding Mothers (Ibu Menyusui): 4,645 people
* Community Learning Centers (PKBM): 1,125 people
* Seminaries: 352 people

"These 3.26 million people are served by 1,102 nutritional fulfillment service units (SPPG), the number of which will continue to increase because the number of those served will also continue to increase," said Suahasil.

In line with this, the 2025 MBG program budget, initially allocated at Rp71 trillion, has now been increased to Rp171 trillion.

This budget will be channeled through 32,000 SPPG units, with a target of 82.9 million beneficiaries by the end of 2025.
