Jakarta Provincial Government Receives Largest Tax Revenue Share in 2020

Jakarta became the largest recipient of tax revenue sharing (DBH) in 2020. According to the Ministry of Finance data, the central government transferred Rp 13.93 trillion (US$950 million*) in tax DBH to the Jakarta Provincial Government, representing 31.45% of the total tax DBH of Rp 44.28 trillion (US$3 billion*) last year.

West Java Province and its regencies/municipalities were the second largest recipients of tax DBH, totaling Rp 4.07 trillion (US$277 million*). Next, East Java Province and its regencies/municipalities received Rp 3.22 trillion (US$220 million*) in tax DBH.

Other provinces receiving the largest tax DBH amounts include Riau Province and its regencies/municipalities (Rp 3.14 trillion or 7.27%), South Sumatra Province and its regencies/municipalities (Rp 2.66 trillion or 6.01%), East Kalimantan Province and its regencies/municipalities (Rp 2.53 trillion or 5.7%), and Central Java Province and its regencies/municipalities (Rp 1.85 trillion or 4.17%).

Furthermore, Banten Province and its regencies/municipalities received Rp 1.8 trillion (4.06%), North Sumatra Province and its regencies/municipalities received Rp 1.34 trillion (3.02%), and Papua Province and its regencies/municipalities received Rp 881.68 billion (1.99%). The total tax DBH disbursed to these 10 provinces reached Rp 35.41 trillion (US$2.4 billion*) or 79.97% of the total.

For information, domestic tax revenue fell by 17.5% to Rp 1,248.42 trillion (US$85 billion*) in 2020 compared to Rp 1,505.09 trillion (US$103 billion*) the previous year.
