Kominfo Tackles 233,000 Pornographic Content Items Online, Mostly from Websites

The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) handled 233,552 pieces of pornography-related content between October 20, 2024, and March 8, 2025.

The majority of the content came from websites, totaling 219,578 cases. This was followed by pornography content on X/Twitter (10,173 cases), MiChat (1,392 cases), and file-sharing platforms (919 cases).

"These figures show that websites and social media platforms remain a major challenge in controlling negative content," said Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, in an official statement on Monday, March 10, 2025.

Pornographic content was also found on live streaming applications and social media platforms such as Mango Live, Meta (Facebook, Instagram, and others), Telegram, Threads, YouTube, Bigo Live, and TikTok.

In response, Komdigi stated it would strengthen its AI-based monitoring system to detect negative content more quickly and improve coordination with global digital platforms for more efficient enforcement.

Furthermore, Komdigi encourages public participation in reporting negative content such as pornography through the official channel aduankonten.id.

"Every report has a significant impact in creating a healthier and safer digital space," said Alexander.
