According to a survey by the Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios), the majority, or 59%, of Indonesian respondents disagreed with using imported ingredients in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

"This indicates a strong desire among the public to prioritize local food products, which can support the local economy and reduce reliance on imports," Celios wrote in a report titled *Mitigating the Risks of the Free Nutritious Meal Program*.

Conversely, 21% of respondents agreed with importing food for the MBG program, and 20% responded "don't know."

Celios suggests this support likely comes from respondents who believe some food items cannot be locally produced or are of better quality when imported.

"Celios recommends that 85% of MBG goods and services procurement should originate from MSMEs, cooperatives, and local products, guaranteeing a multiplier effect on the regional economy," they stated.

The survey involved 1,858 respondents aged 18 and above, spread across rural, suburban, and urban areas in Indonesia.

A random sampling method was used, with data collected digitally through advertisements on Facebook and Instagram.

Celios did not specify the data collection period, but the report was published on December 30, 2024.
