Indonesia's Corruption Perception Index Ranks 4th in ASEAN

In 2016, Indonesia's Corruption Perception Index (CPI) ranked 4th in ASEAN. Singapore had the highest CPI score in Southeast Asia, scoring 84 and ranking 7th globally. This was followed by Brunei Darussalam in second place with a CPI score of 58, and Malaysia in third place with a score of 49.

Transparency International's (TI) research recorded Indonesia's CPI score as 37, a one-point increase from the previous year's 36. Indonesia ranked 90th out of 176 surveyed countries. This increase in the corruption perception index indicates that anti-corruption efforts are ongoing, albeit slowly, making it quite challenging to reach the targeted score of 50.

Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index scores range from 0 to 100. A score of 100 indicates a corruption-free country, while a score of 0 indicates widespread corruption in the surveyed country.
