Curled Red Chili Prices in These 3 Provinces Exceed Rp 60,000/kg

Chili prices are starting to rise as the peak harvest season ends. In several provinces, the price of curly red chilies has even exceeded Rp 60,000 per kilogram (kg). The price of this essential commodity is quite volatile, following the availability of supply in the market.

Based on data from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS), the average price of curly red chilies in traditional markets in Central Kalimantan reached Rp 62,500 per kg on November 17, 2021. This price is the highest compared to prices in other provinces.

The next most expensive province for curly red chilies is West Kalimantan, reaching Rp 62,250 per kg. Followed by Maluku at Rp 60,650 per kg, Bangka Belitung Islands at Rp 58,500 per kg, and DKI Jakarta at Rp 55,580 per kg.

Other provinces with the highest curly red chili prices include Bengkulu at Rp 55,150 per kg. Following this are Riau at Rp 50,950 per kg, South Sumatra at Rp 50,750 per kg, and West Sumatra and Aceh at Rp 50,150 per kg and Rp 48,250 per kg respectively.

The national average price of curly red chilies reached Rp 43,150 per kg on November 17, 2021. This price has increased by 56.34% from its lowest price this year of Rp 27,600 per kg on September 13, 2021. However, this chili price is still 25.23% cheaper compared to the price at the end of last year at Rp 57,800 per kg.
