Granulated Sugar Prices in Modern Markets for the March 2025-2026 Period

According to the latest information from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) panel, the daily granulated sugar price in modern markets in North Sumatra province is recorded at Rp18,800 per kg. This price remains unchanged from the previous day, as has been the case over the past week.

Compared to the past month, the daily granulated sugar price in modern markets has decreased from the previously recorded Rp18,850 per kg.

Meanwhile, over the past three months, the daily granulated sugar price in modern markets in North Sumatra has increased by 5.92% from the previously recorded Rp17,750 per kg.

The record increase in daily granulated sugar prices in modern markets in this province was previously recorded in February 2017 at 38.8%, and the lowest decrease was recorded in January 2017 at -28.16%.

According to PIHPS monitoring, today's prices of nine staple foods (sembako) in North Sumatra show 13 commodities have decreased and 14 have increased. The sembako with decreased prices are Large Red Chili, Branded Packaged Cooking Oil 1, Curly Red Chili, Red Bird's Eye Chili, Bird's Eye Chili, Green Bird's Eye Chili, Cooking Oil, Lower II Quality Rice, Chicken Meat, Red Chili, Chicken Eggs, Fresh Layer Chicken Eggs and Branded Packaged Cooking Oil 2.

5. Red Bird's Eye Chili per Kg Rp41,000 per kg (down 26.79%)
6. Bird's Eye Chili per Kg Rp42,450 per kg (down 18.68%)
7. Granulated Sugar per Kg Rp18,800 per kg (up 1.35%)
8. Green Bird's Eye Chili per Kg Rp43,850 per kg (down 9.31%)
9. Cooking Oil per Kg Rp20,050 per kg (down 4.3%)
10. Medium I Quality Rice per Kg Rp14,000 per kg (up 0.36%)
11. Shallots per Kg Rp30,900 per kg (up 15.3%)
12. Medium Size Garlic per Kg Rp41,000 per kg (up 6.36%)
13. Medium II Quality Rice per Kg Rp14,150 per kg (up 0.35%)
