Investment Transaction Value Reaches US$4.7 Billion in the First Half of 2021

Investment transactions in Indonesia reached US$4.7 billion from 300 transactions in 2021, according to the *e-Conomy SEA 2021* report by Google. This value surpasses the transaction values of the previous four years.

Investment transactions include venture capital, private equity, and strategic investors. The value and number of transactions were obtained from industry reports, venture capital partners, and Bain & Company analysis.

In 2020, the value of investment transactions reached US$4.4 billion from a total of 437 transactions, a 37.5% increase from the 2019 value of US$3.2 billion. Specifically, US$2.8 billion was obtained in the first half of 2020 and US$1.6 billion in the second half of 2020.

Meanwhile, in 2018, the value of investment transactions reached US$3.8 billion from 349 transactions. This figure increased by 26.67% from US$3.0 billion in 2017.

According to the report, this strong investment transaction activity makes Indonesia the most popular investment destination in Southeast Asia, surpassing Singapore. Global capital continues to flow into the Indonesian market due to strong growth in the sectors supporting the economy.

Growth is particularly evident in the digital services area, which has seen increased usage due to Covid-19, such as e-commerce, fintech, healthtech, and edtech.
