State Spending Reaches Rp1.674 Trillion until August 2023: Here's the Largest Expenditure

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) recorded that the realization of state expenditure in the State Budget (APBN) reached Rp1,674.7 trillion in August 2023, up 1.1% compared to August last year (year-on-year/yoy).

"This means we have spent 54.7% of the total budget allocation for 2023," said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani in a press conference on the APBN Kita, Wednesday (20/9/2023).

Based on its components, in August 2023, the realization of central government expenditure (BPP) reached Rp1,170.8 trillion, consisting of ministry/agency expenditure (K/L) and non-K/L expenditure.

The largest state expenditure was non-K/L expenditure, amounting to Rp589.1 trillion, a decrease of 2.20% (yoy).

This expenditure was channeled for electricity compensation payments, fuel subsidies and compensation, 3 kg LPG subsidies, the Kartu Prakerja program, and housing subsidies.

Meanwhile, the realization of K/L expenditure in August 2023 reached Rp581.6 trillion, or an increase of 0.99% (yoy).

In detail, K/L expenditure was channeled for the Family Hope Program (PKH), Sembako Cards, recipients of National Health Insurance contributions (PBI JKN), procurement of equipment/machinery, farmer assistance, the Indonesia Pintar Program, the KIP Kuliah Program, Operational Assistance for Schools (BOS), Operational Assistance for State Higher Education Institutions (BOPTN), disaster assistance, and infrastructure development.

Then, the realization of transfer expenditure to regions (TKD) amounted to Rp503.9 trillion, up 5.2% (yoy).

As of August 2023, state revenue grew by 3.2% (yoy) to Rp1,821.9 trillion. This higher revenue compared to expenditure resulted in an APBN surplus of Rp147.2 trillion, or equivalent to 0.7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
