Finance Minister Sri Mulyani proposed an increase in the energy subsidy budget for 2023.

"With the changes in state revenue and subsidies, we are submitting a proposal for state revenue with a working committee agreement to increase the energy subsidy by Rp1.3 trillion," said Sri Mulyani in a Working Meeting of the DPR Budget Board in Jakarta, Wednesday (14/9/2022).

Based on the Provisional Draft of the State Budget Law (RUU APBN) for 2023, the energy subsidy budget for next year will be increased by Rp1.3 trillion, bringing the total to Rp212 trillion.

This energy subsidy budget consists of a Rp400 billion increase in the 3 kg LPG subsidy to Rp117.8 trillion, a Rp300 billion increase in the electricity subsidy to Rp72.6 trillion, and a Rp600 billion increase in the subsidy for solar and kerosene fuel to Rp21.5 trillion.

With the changes in the 2023 APBN structure, state revenue is projected to increase by Rp19.4 trillion to Rp2,463 trillion. This Rp19.4 trillion increase in state revenue will be allocated to increase next year's state expenditure to Rp3,061.2 trillion.

In more detail, non-Ministry/Agency (K/L) expenditure will be increased by Rp16.4 trillion to Rp1,253.3 trillion, transfers to regions will increase by Rp3 trillion to Rp814.7 trillion, and the energy subsidy will increase by Rp1.3 trillion to Rp212 trillion.

By utilizing this additional expenditure, the government stated that the 2023 APBN deficit will remain at Rp598.2 trillion. Meanwhile, the deficit percentage of GDP will actually decrease to 2.84%, from the previously proposed 2.85% of GDP.
